The Dude I Am...

DudeI am this dude (left).  I like music, Linux, and long hikes in the wilderness.

I live in the Lincoln Square neighborhood of Chicago, IL with my wife, two cats, and pug. Roomba is also alive, but doesn't really count.

I recently switched jobs and became the Head of Content Management & Strategy for a global distributor of electronic components.  I am primarily focused on implementing the Autonomy/Interwoven application suite and associated processes across our business globally.

In my spare time, I enjoy researching and listening to music as well as tinkering with web applications such as this blog and streaming media servers. My media server of choice is Subsonic. It allows me to stream my whole music collection from my living room to wherever in the world I may be.  I love playing tennis and soccer, but play more tennis than soccer, these days.

I am a raving lunatic fan of the University of Illinois Fighting Illini football and basketball teams. My other strong sports allegiance is to the US Men’s National Soccer Team. I’m looking forward to seeing them live in the 2010 FIFA World Cup in South Africa.

I also love Little Britain. Computer Says No.

The Dude I Am Not...

Right AlignI am not this dude (right), a Jazz percussionist (wait, when did Jazz become a proper noun...?) from New Hampshire (also named Paul Heckel) who "started playing drums at age 10 and has been actively gigging since he was 16."  He registered the .com domain before me, uses Smith mallets (c'mon now, who doesn't!?) , and is available for your concert, wedding, or brunch.
I am also not the dude who wrote these books or this dude who slings insurance policies.

About pshweb

E-mail

pshweb is mostly nonsense.

Once upon a time, I did an extensive amount of international traveling and created this blog to help me capture and communicate some of the lunacy I observed as I traversed the globe.  I've since switched roles within my organization, travel very little, and therefore I will report primarily on the lunacy I observe in and around this great city of Chicago.

I previously had two separate sites...a static home page with bio, resume, all that boring crap...and a blog running on Wordpress.  I decided to consolidate them into one site powered by Joomla, the free and open source content management system.  Far, far easier to administer.

Now that this site is up and running, I look forward to rededicating myself to more frequent blogging in 2010 and beyond.
